What People Are Saying

Renina continues to
challenge herself and
give these types of
conversations a platform
away from the classroom.
i also think she grapples
with a lot of ideas and
i love that she?s not afraid
to put that work on display.
i?m thankful.

Very First Quickems Post

Thinking about the impact that Beanies Beef
w/ jay is having on heads. I think they feel
the way I did when I say Rihanna’s Vagina on
the smoking section. Like. This shit is over
for me homie.

what about the impact of jayz and beanies beef? And why do you feel it had any impact at all?

  2. Renina says:

Oh. Wow. Forgot that I wrote that. It was a test post. Lols. Ummmmmm.

At the time on Twitter, folks were really kinda disappointed that they were beefing. Folks appeared to be unwilling to accept that Beans was coming for Jay.

It was almost like their relationship was ABOVE public beefing, so when it happened cats seemed disillusioned with rap. I have been for a hot minute now.

It has been part of my identity for a long time. But we move on, no?

Yea you are right we move on. But why have you moved on? Me personally I still like rap but I think getting older and trying to establish a closer relationship with GOD, has caused me to turnaway from rap. I fell in love with it back in the day, rap wasn’t allowed in our house only gospel music. But, when I was around my friends thats what they listened to Biggie to be specific. I like the rappers that have something to say such as Nas, Common, Mos Def and the ones who are street tuff such as T.I., DMX, Jay-Z,and Biggie but the latter aren’t doing it for me these days.I can’t relate and nothing inside me wants to. The rappers such as Nas has failed to capitalize off of his own greatness. I wish artist such as him and the commons were more forceful in their elimination of the lightweights of rap. They could also keep a conscience in the rap game but their voices seem to get soft and incoherent when the likes of a Jezzy or T.I. speak. On to the Jay-z vs Beanie I personally think Beanie should have air his difference with Jay if Jay was avoiding him. As two grown men they should have been able to talk behind closed doors but, if that wasn’t permitted to happen then…. I think you are right in saying that rap fans are also disillusioned. I think they feel because Jay has the amount of money that he does that exempts him from those types of things which I find to be crazy. I say this if Bill Gates can get got at (not him directly but his company) by Apple many times a day and he is worth billions of dollars. Then why is jay so big that he can’t, or is it the fact that we as blacks haven’t really had anyone of our race per say that has had as much money as Jay therefore we put him on a pedestle. And in that regard I understand but don’t agree. Plus Jay has shown throughout his history to be a shady dude. I don’t know him but lets be real if just about all of my previous friendship from back in the day have went sour something is wrong.
