I believe journalism will survive past the financial ruins of some businesses. Hey, people are still driving cars despite the troubles of GM and Chrysler. Mega publishing houses are taking hits, but in their place other publishing businesses (indie) are thriving.

Technological development is used to make the industry cheaper and faster for capitalists, often replacing labour.<br /><br />So you get newsrooms slashed down, supposedly because online media provides so many opportunities and we've all got to catch up with Twitter. But while I'm a fan of easily disseminated information, you can't substitute speed for thoroughness. What's currently happening in journalism is what happens in every industry under capitalism.
