How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

There are many ways to lose friends and alienate people. The first
way to lose a friend is by refusing to accept responsibility
when
you have made a mistake.

Or apologizing when you have made the mistake, but doing so
defensively which isn’t an apology at all.

Then there is being a flake. This manifests itself in making plans
and constantly canceling them.

It is fairy easy to alienate people. One of the best methods is by
being aggressively self centered, being the person at the party that
likes to argue- with everyone.

While this is a relatively short list, I know that you all have an some
ideas, based on experience on how to lose friends and alienate people.

Alienate anyone lately?
Relationship on life support?

Lets share.

I have a friend who recently moved back to the area. It took her a month to call me. She invited me to her daughter’s b-day party and I went. In the past, I would visit whenever she was in town, I would call, and send cards/letters. I stopped all of that 5 years ago. I realized that I was doing all of the communicating. I believe that she thinks things will go back to the way they were before marriage and motherhood. She doesn’t realize that my motto is still, “I call those who call me, and I spend time with those who make the effort to do the same.”

Fissures in relationships are hard dude. I mean, each situation has to be judged on that case by case basis, feel me? How have you been?
